Best Movies I watched in 2017! // Top 5

Hey Guys!

Today, I’m back to tell you all about my favorite movies that I watched in 2017. If you didn’t know, besides books, I really enjoy watching movies and I’m so excited to share my favorites in the hopes that you guys go and watch them! Like I did in my Top 5 books of 2017! I’m going to start off with my least favorite and then lead up to my most favorite of the year. The movies I’ve selected vary between different genres so if you don’t like comedies maybe there’s one about action that you’ll love. I also wanted to include some honorable mentions at the end, so keep reading to find out!

5. The Greatest Showman // Trailer:

EEK!! This film recently came out and it’s all anyone has been talking about. This story takes place in New York and is about a man with big dreams who decides to create a show where the unusual is appreciated. Along the way he loses sight of what’s important, but what I really loved about this movie is that you should never be afraid to be who you are. From the music to the dancing, all the scenes from this movie were so magically written and played out that you couldn’t keep your eyes away. And I mean literally! Halfway through the movie I had the sudden urge to use the bathroom BUT I JUST COULD’NT LEAVE. That’s how amazing all the songs and the actors were in this movie.

BEWARE: This movie will most definitely leave you obsessed with the soundtrack and finding yourself humming the lyrics everywhere you go.

4. Call Be My Your Name // Trailer:

Call me by your name took my heart and surged it towards a rollercoaster of emotions. Essentially, the movie is about two guys who meet in a small town in Italy during the summer of 1983. In simple terms, this movie is a love story. But it’s unlike any movie out there no not just because it’s representation of the LGBTQ+ community, but because of the production and film value. I’m in no means a film student, but I could appreciate all the subtleties of the music and the hidden meanings behind the scenes of this movie. That being said, this movie is also very explicit at points and very open with sexuality so I definitely would not recommend this to younger folks. It’s rated R so it might be best if you watch this when your of age or very mature at your age.

3. Thor: Ragnarok // Trailer:

AGAIN another amazing movie!! Thor: Ragnarok left me so SHOOK. Personally, I’m a huge fan of basically all Marvel movies, but Thor was never really one of my favorite superhero’s. Like in the Avenger movies, Thor was always just kind of there for me. That was until I saw this movie. If you haven’t seen any of the Marvel superhero movies and have no idea who Thor is, WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE?? and if you think that these movies are just about action, than you are painstakingly wrong. Unfortunately, I can’t really tell you what this movie is about because there are movies that you have to see before this to understand at least a little bit about Thor’s predicament. But I will say that this movie was hilarious and got me so excited for the third installment in the Avengers series, The Avengers: Infinity War.

2. Coco // Trailer:

I’M CRYING JUST REMEMBERING WATCHING THIS MOVIE. mY God. Okay, so this movie was another A++ in my books! Before I went to see this movie, I didn’t think much of it to be honest. I was actually expecting something similar to that movie, The Book of life, but boy was I wrong. Disney blew my socks off with this magnificent movie about family and family values.

I actually cried during this movie because there’s a lot of scenes that deal with expectations, and passions, and how at the center of it all, your family is always going to be there for you. I recommend this movie to people of all ages and I also recommend that you go see this movie with your family. I promise you will not regret it!

1. Lady bird // Trailer:

Where do I even begin with how spectacular this movie was! I absolutely adored this movie and I love the main actor, Saoirse Ronan. This movie is essentially about a girl in her senior year of high school and the things that go on in her life. It deals with topics such as applying to college, a focus on her relationship with her mom, and troubles with guys and romance in general. What I really loved most about this movie is how relatable it all seemed and how I could picture myself in her shoes. The character development and the struggles she deals with throughout the movie, were beautifully written and portrayed. This movie is also getting lots of buzz in the awards season and has already secured two Golden Globes and countless nominations. So if I haven’t convinced you to go see this film, these awards should be proof enough.

AND sadly folks, unfortunately we have reached the end of my Top 5 movies of 2017! Below I’m going to leave a list of movies that I really enjoyed, but just didn’t make the cut. 2017 was a year with really amazing movies, so it was hard to decide which ones were my favorite.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi
  • Baby Driver
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2
  • IT
  • Beauty and the Beast
  • Spider-Man Homecoming

Guys, I really hope you enjoyed this review and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take a chance and give one of these movies a try! Anyways, I hope you guys have a great week and until next time! ❤

Best of wishes,

Top 5 books of 2017!

Hey Guys!

Today I’m gonna be sharing my Top 5 books of 2017 with you. I know it might seem a little late to be doing this, but better late than never? Anyways, I was super excited when I saw other blogs doing their favorite books of 2017 and felt inspired to do my very own. I also want to say that most of these books did not come out in 2017, but I read them in 2017. Originally I had planned to do my Top 17 books of 2017, but then I went to my Goodreads account.

Every year I participate in the reading challenge and 2017 was no different.

Except for the fact that I only read 23 books.

I only read 23 books.

23 books.

When the page popped up, you best believe I did a double take. I mean, how is it possible that I barely read any books last year? Besides being a bit disappointed in myself, I feel more sad than anything. Last year I had almost lost that spark. The spark to read and get lost in magical worlds. I hope that for 2018 I find the time to read more books because I love reading and I’ve missed the way I would feel after reading a book. It’s a tremendous feeling, let me tell you. Anyways, under these unfortunate circumstances, I want to share my Top 5 books with you in the hopes that it encourages you to get up and pick up a book.

5. Truthwitch //  By: Susan Dennard

Okay so, I’m going to start off with my least favorite of my favorite books of 2017. I first learned of this book through book tube and was excited to read a story where friendships plays a huge role. I really enjoyed Safiya and Iseult’s relationship and how they would put each other before themself. It was extremely entertaining and a fast-paced read. Essentially this book is about two witches, Safiya and Iseult, who are threadsisters, and Safiya is a rare truthwitch who has been in hiding because of her ability. When both of their lives are suddenly threatened, Safiya and Iseult are forced to run away.

4.  The Red Queen Series // By: Victoria Aveyard

UM. wow. These books were all different kinds of crazy. From love to betrayal, Aveyard laid out all her cards on the table. I really enjoyed the third book the most because of the character development throughout the book and all the new characters were introduced to. Can I just say, to those of you who have read this series, what team are you on? Team Cal or Team Maven? Personally I’ve always been #TeamMaven and will continue to stand by my man! What I like most about these books is that they are easy to read, intriguing, and full of surprises. You never know who’s going to betray who. Cant wait for the next and final book!

3. The Eon Duology // By: Alison Goodman

I loved this duology so frickin much!!! It was everything and more than I could have ever wanted. It was a rich, complex, and extremely well-written book that emphasized women empowerment and strength. I loved Edna and Kygo throughout this series and how there relationship is nowhere near perfect but there willing to make it work. I also really loved how flawed the characters were because sometimes you don’t really seem to find characters in YA novels that aren’t perfect. If you haven’t read it yet, please go pick it up! I promise you won’t regret it ❤

2. And I Darken // By: Kiersten White

OMG I LOVE THIS BOOK. Okay so this book is probably one of my favorite books out there because it surprised me in the most unexpected way possible. I went into this book completely blind as to what it was about and I couldn’t be happier about it. There’s something about reading a book you have no idea what its about. What I loved most about this book was that it was dark, thrilling, and completely captivating. Our main character Lada is unlike anyone I’ve ever read about. I don’t want to say much about what this book is about but I will say it’s more on the historical fiction side. If you are in the least bit intrigued, I encourage you to go pick it up RIGHT NOW!!!

1. Flame in the mist // By: Renee Ahdieh

I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO WORDS FOR HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS BOOK! It was beautiful and mysterious and full of twists and turns that I did not see coming. Everything about this book was completely intriguing and I found it hard to put down this book. This book is centered around Japanese Culture and it was extremely interesting to learn about. Besides from the action and amazing events that take place in the book I really loved the romance aspect of this book. It was cryptic and subtle but also infuriating sometimes. I’m gonna leave the Goodreads link for you to read what this book is about because I could simply not do it justice. But please trust me when I say that this book was beyond amazing!!

Long time, no see…

I have absolutely no idea where to begin.

It’s been a while since I last wrote a blog post. A lot has happened since then and I can confidently say I’ve missed you lot a whole bunch.

Okay, yikes. I took a “break” and basically missed a whole year.

and your probably wondering the following..

Who am I and why the hell are you following this random girl???

Umm honestly I have no clue how to answer those questions but if you think you might be in the slightest interested to read about what has happened in the last few weeks of my life, continue on! and if your not interested, well it’s not like I care or anything pfttt *cries quietly in the corner*

I started my junior year of high school last fall and it’s crazy to think we’re already half way through the year. I mean, how is that even possible? One minute I’m thinking about what I’m gonna dress up as for Halloween, and the next minute I’m thinking about how chocolates and a big ol’ pack of Fun Dip will be the only things I cuddle this Valentine’s Day.

So far, Junior year has been a roller coaster of emotions. The first 2 quarters of school were a bit rough and I spent an endless amount of hours shedding tears and stressing about AP tests and classes in general. I never expected AP Calculus to be so difficult and I surely never expected to fail math tests left and right. Aside from school, my personal relationships haven’t been to hot either. Sometimes you want to believe that friendships will always last and fights are only temporary. I’ve lost some friends this year, but I’ve also made some pretty cool ones. At the beginning of the school year I was accepted into this amazing fellowship that deals with leadership roles and social issues. Since then, I’ve attended meetings with a group of 20 other students at my school and have learned beyond what I thought capable.

Winter break was like a blessing from above. After a treacherous semester of school, drama, and pain, I was able to let go of all my responsibilities and enjoy life. My family and our family friends rented a house to stay in for winter break and it was honestly the best experience ever. We got to disconnect from technology and have pure fun with one another. We spent our days by the pool and our nights playing a handful of board games and card games. I met a guy. A really sweet, cute, hilarious guy who was as close to perfect as can be. He made me laugh and giggle more than I have in a while. We shared a love for Harry Potter and High school musical. Yes, you heard me right. He actually enjoys high school musical. He’s also a pretty good soccer player and if you know anything about me, you know I fairly enjoy watching soccer.

When winter break finally came to end, I was devastated to leave my sweet paradise and go back to reality. It was like being woken up with a bucket of cold water. Back to school it was. So, I guess thats where I am now. A little disappointed that winter break ended so suddenly, but hopeful for what the new year brings. Every year I’ve tried to keep up with my resolutions, but I always fail miserably, so this year I decided to just go with the flow.

No strings attached.

No obligations.

Just plain living.

Although I don’t want to make official resolutions, I do have a few things in mind that I want to try out. For starters, I want to come back to blogging. I missed this community so much when I was gone. Maybe post once a week? I guess we’ll see in the upcoming weeks, but no promises friends. Oh yeah, I totally forgot to welcome all the amazing people who have followed my blog.

Thank you, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I can’t begin to explain how happy and grateful I am. And even though I don’t know any of you personally, I really really love you guys. I love when you leave comments on my blog posts so please feel free to write anything you want! I want to know how your year has been so far and how your winter break was! Again, I’m ecstatic to be back and I can’t wait for what this new year has to bring!

Acts of Violence -TIDU #1

How can things like this happen?

My gut is wrenching, my heart is breaking, and my fear is rising.

When are we ever going to feel safe again?

Hey, beautiful people of the internet. I didn’t think I would see you until my next blog post in a few days, but in times like these, there is no plan on what to do. As some of you may know, if you read my last blog post, I talked about a new tradition I wanted to start on my blog called TIDU which stands for Things I Don’t Understand. My plan was to start it next week but under the circumstances that have taken place in the last few hours, I think it would be a great idea for me to talk about the recent event in Manchester and my feelings on terrorist attacks and violence in the world.

With that being said, this week’s TIDU will be a very sad one, so stay with me in this time of need, as we pray for the people in Manchester and the victims of terrorist attacks.

I Don’t Understand the need for violence. When did people start to think that it’s okay to practice acts of violence? When did people start forgetting that we’re all just human beings, before anything else? Because when you take away your gender, or religion, or the color of your skin, you are left with a human being. All equipped with a heart to love whomever, a brain to imagine and create, and a body to experience this amazing life that we are given.

All of the violence and hatred in the world is sickening. When I was younger, our emergency drills consisted of fire drills, earthquake drills, and tornado drills. But kids of today’s society are put through shooter drills. The fact that things such as a shooter coming into a safe place for children is terrifying.

I don’t know why people ever resort to violence. What I do know is that the people who commit acts of violence, do not represent other people. For example, a muslim who commits an act of terrorism is a terrorist. Does that make all muslims terrorists? No. We need to stop categorizing people into groups, and start loving each other. In times like these, we need to come together as a whole.

I wish for a world in where everybody is equal and pain is nonexistent. Where people can dress however they like, love whomever they like, or practice their own set of morals and religion, without discrimination. No two people in the world are alike. It’s an idea that has always stuck with me and kept me fascinated at the same time.

It’s what I’d like to think we do best. We need to take all the love we can offer and send it to the people who are victims of violence. The judgement needs to stop and the loving needs to conquer.

All my love,

Tuesdays aren’t just for tacos..

Hey Guys!

It feels amazing to be here, on your screen, telling you about some very exciting news. In a few weeks (2-3ish) sophomore year of high school will finally be over and that means no more tests or homework! No, but really it means that I have the whole summer to plan and make really cool blog posts.

As my schedule is finally starting to clear up, I thought it was about time that I started to blog more regularly and dedicate more time to this blog. And with that being said, one of the first traditions I want to start on my blog is TIDU-Tuesdays. TIDU stands for Things I Don’t Understand because believe me, there are a lot of things in this world that I don’t understand.

Every week I will touch on a different subject or topic and basically give you my thoughts and feelings. I also want to have discussions in the comment section down below, so if you have any suggestions on a topic you want me to approach or just want to discuss the post, please don’t be afraid to comment. I promise I’m really nice and I’ll try my best to answer back to all the comments left. ❤

Yes, I know this is a short post but you just wait, its only the beginning!

Side note: I been in a really longggg reading slump lately and I need suggestions please! I’m really desperate to read a freaking amazing book that makes me cry, and scream, and laugh, and you get the point 😉

Best of wishes,

The Rant Girl x

Hey guys!

I’m back today to talk about something that has been on my mind lately. So recently I’ve been really into starting new shows but never actually finishing them until like a few months later. It’s weird, I know but there always seems to be a scene or episode that gets me so frustrated that it takes me forever to get back into the series. That being said, even if it takes me 5 years to finish a show, I do not want to know the ending.

There’s always that one person who thinks it there life’s mission to tell me all the plot twists and turns of the series. I will admit that there have been a few occasions where I have done this but I try my very best to not do that anymore. It’s in the past people.

Now, I just want to know why people think that this is acceptable. I think I speak for most of us when I say that the ending of a series is something I like to experience on my own. Have you ever had that one person who kind of indirectly tells you? Like they give you this look and I just hate it. The satisfaction of being surprised and not knowing what’s about to happen is so good. When somebody takes that away from me, it just kind of ruins the show. It’s like, what is the point of even watching the episode if you already know what’s coming?

Expanding on this topic, can we just talk about movie trailers now a days as well? I just don’t understand why people are basically showing the ENTIRE movie during a trailer. The trailer is supposed to be a little sneak peak that has you guessing and wondering about the movie. But what happens when the trailer not only includes the beginning of a story, but also basically includes the end? I don’t want to know the end of the movie, cause again what’s the point of even seeing the movie then? If you’re just going to spoil the whole movie, I guess it’s best if I just wait until it comes out online and watch it at home, without having to pay for really expensive movie tickets that cost about $11.

A perfect example of this movie trailer failure is Everything, Everything. So before we talk about everything wrong about the trailer, I just want to say that I absolutely LOVED this book and highly enjoyed reading it. When I heard that it was being made into a movie, I was so excited.

It was cute and adorable but immediately I saw how much it spoiled the whole plot of the book. I just don’t think it’s fair to show the end parts of the book in the trailer. The whole appeal of a trailer is to get people so interested on what can happen, that they want to go see the movie.

To further expand on this, lets talk about books. I love books, you know? Honestly your kind of crazy if you don’t. But people, please do not tell me that “OMG that book has the most amazing twist, you’ll never see it coming!” UM…Yes I will, thanks to you for telling me it was coming. Now I know that you didn’t tell me specifically what was going to happen or anything like that, but telling me there’s a twist in the book just makes me extremely frustrated.

What also makes me angry is that on some books, the blurbs will even say “There’s a twist and it was so unexpected!” Why is this written on a book? The author probably worked super hard to create a twist and now they’re just going to spoil it? Okay, so I really want to start a revolution here. Can we all just agree that if your writing or talking about a book, please do not mention there’s a twist.

Anyways, I hoped you guys enjoyed this rant about spoilers and if any of you guys feel the same or have something else to say, comment down below. I’m just dying to know how you guys feel on this subject, all your little your thoughts and opinions.

Best of wishes,

The Rant Girl x

I’m back?

Hey YOU!

Yes, you. I can’t begin to even say how thankful I am for you. The you who is taking the time to read this even though I’ve been gone for like a century (exaggeration much?). Yeah maybe it hasn’t been THAT long, but it sure felt like it.

Okay, but really today I want to update you guys on my life, how it’s been, and where it’s going. So to start off, I just want to express to you guys how happy and overjoyed I am now that AP exams are finally over! To be fair I still have finals for a few of my classes, though I think for the most part they are going to be super easy. I’m getting off track now… Okay right, so now that exams are partially over, I’m going to try to dedicate more time to this blog. Or at least I plan to do that in the summer, where all my worries will hopefully go away.

These next few weeks are going to be a little hectic considering my sister is graduating from high school and we have a whole bunch of graduation plans to attend. I’m also going to try my best and do like little updates on the parties or the trips I take this summer. Recently I’ve also been into photography and making videos of the places I travel to so if you guys want to see that as well, let me know!

In July, I’m turning 16 years old! That’s extremely crazy to even think about. It seems like only yesterday I was graduating from elementary school and learning my multiplication tables. Since a lot of my friends are usually traveling or busy during the summer season, I like to celebrate my birthday early in June, which is in about three weeks, so that is also exciting to think about.

With the end of this school year, I relinquish my freedom, for next year is going to be a crazy ride. They say that junior year in High School is the hardest of them all. With my course load to think about, I’m already stressing about next school year. I think it’s best if I start taking Yoga and invest in a good “How to live a stress-free life” book because boy, am I going to need it!

Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this update and comment down below what you guys have planned for the summer. I would love to know!

Best of wishes,

The Rant Girl x

I’m horrible.

Yes, I already know what most of you are thinking.

Or what most of you are going to say to me, but honestly it’s how I’m feeling right now.

Okay so that definitely sounded way too exaggerated and angsty teenager feelings are treating to spill out any moment. I’m gonna explain what I mean now, so before you get a chance to even guess what I’m about to say, just listen.

I’m shit at taking care of my blog. It’s true so don’t even say it isn’t. Maybe its the fact that I have absolutely no time to think or breathe because of school. Or maybe it’s the fact that I’m being swallowed alive by this thing called life. Whatever it is, it makes me forgot about the responsibilities that come with having a blog. I want so bad for this school year to be over already and to finally have a long break away from society. All I want to do is spend hours away creating new blog posts and brainstorming ideas.

Yah, I know high school is also only 4 years of your life, but for a teenager it feels like an eternity. Summer break could not come soon enough. I’m extremely ready to spend my days by the pool reading books and drawing little doodles to pass the time.

Anyways, aside from the normal complaints about how I’m drowning in homework, this week and next week is AP Exams week. These exams are probably one of the most important and hardest tests because they have a strong college curriculum. This year I took 2 AP classes, AP Spanish language and AP World History. With these types of tests, it’s required that students study their butts off to not only pass but get a high score as well. Today I had my Spanish AP test and it surprisingly went by very well and easy. It could be the fact that I’m somewhat fluent in Spanish…Next week I have the world test and I cannot tell you how scared I am.

NOW I really gotta blast and go study until my eyes give in.

Sorry again for such a small update ❤

Tacos & Tan lines.

Hello wonderful people of the interwebs!

Today I’m going to be talking all about my spring break trip to Los Cabos. Yes, its a little overdue but jumping back to school is always rough, so please forgive me. And there’s also going to be pictures at the end.

We officially left to Los Cabos on April 8, which was a Saturday morning, and arrived to Mexico around lunch time because of the time difference. I think one of the worst things about traveling to another country is going through customs. If you don’t know what that is, it’s basically a place where they check your passport, some special documents, and do a security check on you to make sure that everybody is safe and not doing anything illegal. The thing about customs though is that the line to be checked by security is always REALLY LONG. Just imagine getting off the plane and then having to wait in line for about 45 min – 1hr. Yeah, its not really fun.

But to be honest, it was worth the wait. Los Cabos is just beautiful and magnificent, and there’s not enough words in my vocabulary to describe how amazing it is. Driving out of the airport to the resort was really cool because you get this nice scenery of the desert. Once you start getting closer to the edge and near the ocean, there are a bunch of different resorts lined up along a strip. We were fortunate enough to have our resort right on the waterfront, so that whenever we wanted to go to the beach, it was only a few steps away.

My dad booked a resort that was all inclusive, meaning that the food and drinks were included with your stay. It was a really smart decision on my dad’s part because everyday I had at LEAST 3 virgin strawberry daiquiris. And let me just say that it was like a little peace of heaven. Every night the resort restaurant served different plates of food that were not only traditional Mexican food, but also extremely beautiful.

Besides spending hours by the pool and beach getting sunburned, we decided to do some excursions. The first one we did was ATV ridding, where we got to ride these bikes along the the desert and the beach. I wouldn’t say that I’m the worst driver but I will say that there were a few moments where I thought we were going to fall off…….yikes. The next day we took a small boat/cruise ship thing to go see the famous Arch and scuba dive in the ocean. The water was so COLD that once I got in, all I could hear was the sound of my teeth chattering away. To be honest, I don’t really enjoy the sea that much because I don’t like sea creatures (they totally freak me out). I told myself that I WOULD NEVER EVER scuba dive but I DID IT. I swam with little fishies and I even saw a seal.

By the last day, my body was filled with muchos, muchos tacos and really uneven tan lines. Unfortunately, our little four day trip was over way too soon. We waved goodbye to the wonderful people of Mexico and set off back home.

I really hope that you guys enjoyed hearing about my spring break! What did YOU guys do for your spring break? I’m really interested to hear about it, so don’t be shy to comment down below if all you did was finish the entire series of a Netflix show. Because this is what I do on a daily basis, so no judgement here 😉

See you guys soon,

The Sunshine Blogger Award!

Hey guys!

I was nominated 5 TIMES to do the Sunshine Blogger Award…..What???

It’s crazy, I know.

Sometimes I really don’t understand how amazingly nice and kind people are. So I’m sending a million virtual hugs to the 5 incredible blogs who nominated me. They are MayUtterlyUsThe Bookish Wanderer, Wholesome Valour and Violet Gray. And if your not already following them, please go check them out! 😉

The Rules:

  • Thank the person/persons that nominated you and link back to their blog
  • Answer the 11 questions your nominator has given you
  • Nominate 11 other people and give them 11 new questions to answer
  • List the rules and display the award

Okay, so I’m going to be a little bit of a rebel and do 15 questions. As much as I would love to answer 55 questions, it would take me forever to do that and I wish that time was a luxury but school exists. Instead I’m going to answer 3 questions from each blog that nominated me.

The Questions:

1.  What is one of your favorite posts on your blog?

One of my favorites has to be Off days. Do you ever get those moments where you just need to be writing about a certain subject? For me, this was one of those really passionate moments. As the word’s flowed from my head and onto the screen, I couldn’t have been more proud of myself in that moment.

2.  What is one crazy obsession that you have?

Besides being obsessed with Harry Potter and Hamilton….Disney Music. I think a part of me has always wished to be a Disney princess and whenever I get the chance, I belt out all and any songs from Disney.

3.   If you could take over the world and become its supreme leader, would you?

ABSOLUTELY NOT. I’m only fifteen geez….

1. What’s your favorite food???

Wait….What?! You want me to choose? I CANT MAY! Okay so my immediate answer would be Fajitas but there are SO MANY MORE FOODS that I absolutely love. (*Hint: Cheesecake)

2. Where would you like to travel to one day?

3. What positive things do you see when you look in the mirror?

A strong independent women who doesn’t need a man to define my worth. #AllTheSingleLadies

1.  Are you still learning who you are?

Yes. A hundred times yes. It’s the experience’s and the lesson’s in life that shape you as a person, and I have no doubt in my mind that each and everyone of us learns how to be a better person everyday.

2. What is the worst injury you’ve ever had?

Surprisingly, as I’m an extremely clumsy person in my everyday life, the worst injury I’ve ever had was a fractured ankle from dance class.

3. What is on your perfect pizza?

Just cheese….. Yah sooo original right? Hehe 😉

1.  What is your favorite song at the moment?

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this on my blog before, but both of my parents are hispanic. They moved to the U.S at a young age and all, but they wanted me to be able to speak English and Spanish. So sometimes I like to listen to music in Spanish and my favorite song right now is called Despacito. Blogging Hiatus?

Hey guys!

Soo it’s been a while.

I’m incredibly sorry for that long break, but the good news is that I’m back! Okay so the first thing I want to address is ALL the new readers who have mysteriously wandered upon my blog and were crazy enough to follow. Thank you so much for taking a chance and I hope that you enjoy reading my blog!

Now for an explanation as to why I’ve been gone for more than a week.

Yes, yes I finally had my spring break and it was amazing. We spent 4 nights in Los Cabos, Mexico and everything about it was perfect. Now I don’t want to get into too much detail because I’m going to be having a separate blog post, all about my trip, up in a few days.

To continue with this short and little update, are there ANY Star Wars fans out there?! Because I just finished watching the trailer for Episode 8: The Last Jedi and I am super excited for it to come out! And if you haven’t seen any of the movies….What are you doing with your life?

Anyways, I’m happy to say that, no, I have not abandoned you guys, I just took a little tiny break. And yes, I’m healthy, alive, and still binge watching about every show on Netflix.

Til next time,

13 Reasons Why.

Hey Guys!

So recently Netflix released a show called 13 Reasons Why, based off the book by Jay Asher. Right from the moment I heard that it was in production, I knew that the live interpretation of the book was going to be extremely raw and impactful to not only teens, but also adults.

The story follows a girl named Hannah Baker, who has gone through many traumatic experiences and feels like suicide is her only option. She leaves a set of 13 tapes about the reasons why she decided to commit suicide. Each tape is assigned to one person who bullied or abused Hannah in a way that made her feel more like an object than a human being. As the tapes are passed along through the people, each one of their stories are shared with the viewers and we also get to see how it affects them. If you want a more detailed synopsis I’m going to leave a link to one right here.

I first read the book 13 Reasons Why about four years ago when I was about 11-12. Every page, every word, and every character changed my life in ways I never would have imagined. Jay Asher’s story was meant to be told, watched, or read by so many people. It highlights many important themes such as bullying, sexual abuse, and the consequences that actions may have on people.

So today I want to tell you 6 reasons why you should either read the book, watch the show, or do both. I wanted to tell you 13 reasons why, but if I did that then this post would be never ending.

1. Awareness

By bringing the book to life, the producers wanted to create a sense of awareness surrounding such a dark topic. Suicide is not a topic that many people are very comfortable talking about and I think that we as a society need to confront it.

2. Realness

Both the show and the book don’t shy away from the real stuff that happens in school’s everyday. Whilst watching the show, there was never a moment in which I felt like “oh this would never happen”.

 3. It’s not just “High-school drama” its real drama that happens to high schoolers.

Nothing about the drama ever felt superficial or unnecessary. It wasn’t just about if “he liked her” but about the type of bullying that kids go through today.

  4. Ugly truth

This goes specifically for the show and the way they filmed each and every scene. They didn’t want you to just hear about what happened to Hannah, they wanted you to really feel what it would be like. They take you through every hard moment she faces and show you the ugly truth even if it is uncomfortable.

5. Consequences

By watching the show, I hope that more people are realizing just how important every little thing you say to someone really is. Anything and everything you do will always have a consequence. Please never forget that.

6. Learning experience

Again the main purpose of this book is to reiterate that your not always going to know what’s going on in someone’s life. Nothing should justify bullying or sexual abuse and things like these should not go unnoticed or unpunished.

I truly hope that you enjoyed this and you decide to give 13 Reasons Why a chance.
